Crescent City Harbor serves as the home port for a variety of salmon, shrimp, tuna, cod and Dungeness crab commercial fishing vessels. The Harbor is also home to numerous fishing and non-fishing related businesses as well as numerous government offices. Pelican Bay State Prison is also located in Crescent City. Del Norte Coast Redwoods Park, Jedidiah Smith Redwoods State Park and other redwood forest related parks are nearby. Crescent City has a Mediterranean climate and is one of the wetter places in California with average annual rainfall of 67 inches.
